Skills Development Scotland works with partners to provide services that deliver the very best outcomes for Scotland’s people, businesses and the economy.

In February 2022, J&G3 Ltd. developed a digital post-COVID tourism and hospitality induction toolkit to be hosted on the Scottish Tourism Alliance website, the VisitScotland website, and other industry websites to support Scottish SME businesses and social enterprises.

With the impact of Brexit and Covid-19 creating a change in available staff in the tourism and hospitality sector, as well as a move to online communication, the innovative toolkit was fully scoped, written, designed, produced, quality checked, and delivered by J&G3 in just six weeks.

The final toolkit was delivered to SDS a week early, as a fully-interactive, fully compliant and accessible 32-page digital file with clickable inward and outward links to more than 200 online websites, resources and email addresses, including how to incorporate Fair Work and become accredited as a Living Wage employer, an Ideas for Staff Benefits checklist, funding and grant sources, mental health and wellbeing resources, proactive accessibility approaches, equalities and diversity in the workplace, Net Zero resources, a fully interactive map of Scotland’s universities and colleges, apprenticeships, strategy and market research.

The toolkit formally launched in May 2022 and has been downloaded more than 3,000 times (and counting!).

J&G3 interviewed staff, collected and scoped resources available, and collated additional logos/brand standards to feature hundreds of existing resources in a concise, clear, engaging manner.

“This is one of the most comprehensive resources that I have seen for anyone working in Scotland’s tourism and hospitality industries.”

– Marc Crothall, Chief Executive of the Scottish Tourism Alliance

Artwork was created from scratch. The look and feel was a mix of the SDS house style, with a balance of other partners’ branding, to find the just the right kind of messaging to engender trust and engage the target market of Scotland’s hospitality and tourism sectors. To add significant value, J&G3 also produced a dozen digital images in various sizes to be utilised on social media by SDS and its partners for launch, free-of-charge.

“This new resource will be a great support in helping with the induction of new entrants into the sector. It has all the resources for information and support needed to access training, funding and other opportunities within the tourism and hospitality sector.”

– Lawrence Durden, Skills Development Scotland Sector Manager for Tourism
